Avik Ghosh

Avik Ghosh completed his PhD in theoretical physics from the Ohio State University in 1999, focusing on nonlinear optics in heterostructures. Since 2005, he has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Virginia. Over the last few years, he has been involved in developing a unified treatment of quantum transport through nanoscale systems, such as silicon MOSFETs, carbon nanotubes, silicon nanowires, graphene FETs, molecules, quantum dots and spintronic devices. His research has generated nearly 50 refereed technical and scientific publications and nearly 60 invited talks at international conferences, workshops, seminars and summer schools. He has organized 4 international conferences and refereed nine journals in physics, chemistry and Electrical Engineering. Dr. Ghosh has been awarded the Ohio State University Presidential Fellowship, a best paper for Frontier Sensor and Monitoring at the ISSSR 2006 conference, a National Science Foundation CAREER award, a New Faculty Teaching Award from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Virginia, a University of Virginia Teaching Fellowship and a University of Virginia Fund for Excellence in Science and Technology Award.
